Today Liverpool fullback José Enrique turns 29. Congrats The Bull!
The Spaniard joined Liverpool in the summer of 2011 and has played around 100 matches for the Reds. In recent years he has been injured quite a lot and lost his place. This season his playing time has been restricted mostly due to tough competition for the left-back position from newcomer Alberto Moreno and lately from Mamadou Sakho occupying the left defender spot in a back three.
Liverpool fans are divided in their opinions about Enrique. Many thinks he is not good enough to play in the red outfit. They have a case since his fine performances are fewer than the ones below par. He has got the physical attributes, hence his nickname The Bull (El Toro), and will to attack to be a fine footballer. But his inconsistency and his tendency to think to highly of his own capacity, showing in to many dribbles and other peculiar actions, is holding him back.
It is doubtful if he can be a regular at Anfield again. At 29 he has at least five years left at a high football level but I think a move to another club would be his best choice. It wouldn´t be a surprise if he leaves Liverpool in the summer. In the meantime let´s hope he performs well when picked in the coming months. With or without him in the future:
We Go Again.
